Spring-Summer 2006

The first semester of school here at Schitu Duca started in January of 2005. Much hard work had been spent on preparing the building to be used as a Bible training center. When school started there were dorms for the students to stay in, a cafeteria to feed them, inside and outside bathrooms, a fine kitchen to prepare meals, an classrooms to teach in, a computer room and library to use for a variety of things and 10 new excited students to start with.

The students started with a survey of the Old Testament and How to Study Their Bibles along with Experiencing God and English as a second language. Much was learned during this semester and much will be learned in the semesters to come.

Spring came and classes ended around the end of April. Time was spent throughout the spring and summer in the village of Scinosh working with children and training women to teach young children. We pray that within the next year a church will be started in this village and land can be obtained to put up a new building. Other villages visited during that time were Slobozia, Ten Sticks, Podurine, Osoi and others.

It was also a time when visiting churches came on short term mission projects. These teams were a rich blessing to us as they continued work on the building, visited and preached in the villages and the team from FBC Louisa, Kentucky were here as we launched our first music get together at the school. Churches from the area participated in the music and the youth from FBC were a great addition to that event.

Construction continued during the summer to put on a new roof at the school. Buddy Fraizer and his wife Elaine from Cherryville Baptist church came for 1 month, donating their time and energy to help complete this project. Words cannot express how much they were appreciated along with all the others that took part.

We appreciate the following churches for being a part our ministry this year. FBC Louisa for coming and bringing construction people and youth. Also on that trip was several from FBC South Point Ohio. Also Vengeance Creek Baptist church from North Carolina and John Parker and several from his church in Georgia. MidValley Baptist from Carbondale, Colo. sent a great group of men who helped with construction at the school and helped teach several classes. Also we want to thank Bethel Baptist Church from Frederick, Oklahoma for sending their pastor, Roland Benkie. Roland was the first church planter God put in my path many years ago and it was good to have him with us on the field in Romania.

Many changes have taken place within the last six months and many more will take place in the future. We pray that God continues to give us wisdom in all the areas that we need to focus on.
